Values

Our work is underpinned by our values, what we believe our responsibilities to the community and the environment truly entail. They define who we are, how we behave and what we believe in. Integrated into our business model, is our work ethic, entrenched within this, is our collection of “group imperatives” serving as a guide to what the company represents for all its stakeholders. Our values help us to make the best decisions, be successful and stand out for all the right reasons, building trust through a high ethical standard. 

 

Code of Conduct

We aspire to operate with a high level of ethics in line with our values. Our Code of Conduct and ethical trade policy are pivotal in setting the standard needed to achieve this. They lay out a set of principles that Opus Facilities commits itself to follow. We are committed to identify any deficiencies within our operations and adjust our working methods accordingly. 

Our trade theory operates with a high level of ethics in all our home markets. To achieve this, we are supported by our Code of Conduct and ethical trade policy (Supplier Code of Conduct), it encompasses a breadth of international labor rights it explains the behaviors we expect from our supply chain and other partners. Highlighting everyone’s social responsibility towards the workers involved in making their products; We endeavor to source ethically.

Our Code of Conduct is entrenched in our daily practice, and it sets the expectation for conducting our business in responsible and sustainable ways. This promotes respect for workers’ rights around the globe and enables us to be a trusted partner to our customers. We take seriously our responsibility to understand, mitigate and remedy any adverse human rights impacts in our supply chains.

Our Code of Conduct establishes how we should conduct ourselves in interactions with fellow employees, our customers, the communities in which we operate and other stakeholders. Our vocational statement has a clear purpose which is to amplify workers’ voices and shine a spotlight on working conditions as part of our efforts to drive long-lasting improvements. It provides employees with hands-on guidance on how to act in accordance with our values, specifically Act Ethically and Transparently. The Code provides many examples to help employees apply these concepts in daily life.

Our Code of Conduct provides employees with direction, including “value moments” allowing ideas to diffuse throughout our entire enterprise. We promote a transparent workplace culture in which ethics is openly and regularly discussed. Empowering all employees to report instances of non-compliance with our Code or raise ethical questions with or report dilemmas to their supervisors and others.

Reporting concerns

We fully investigate all reports of concerns raised. This service is accessible to both employees and outside parties, including customers, suppliers and sub-contractors.

This is all about managing Opus Facilities assets responsibly and creating a fair, healthy, safe and inclusive workplace where we all can develop our professional skills, grow as individuals and feel welcome. We employ a wealth of expertise, both internal and external, and resources that ensure positive transactions and outcomes to our works. Additional training and attendance at events enable our staff to be at the forefront of new developments in our field of work.

Health & Safety

We are committed to ensuring that everyone who works with and for us can perform their operations in a safe and healthy environment. We are constantly evaluating the strength and thoroughness of our compliance preparations. 

Our Occupational Health & Safety Management System are based on Procedures, Risk Assessments and Method Statements, fostering a culture of care and concern for our employees and anyone who comes into contact with our business. Through regular monitoring, consultation and reporting we generate safe working procedures implementing best practice and creating a Safe Environment.

The Competence of our workforce is paramount to our business.  Our workforce is fully trained in their field and on the specific types/makes of materials and the equipment they may use.  Apprentices, who work with our qualified staff, are supported through training and on the job experience to become competent at their trade. Newly employed members of the workforce prove their competence via their recognised qualifications and are supervised through their induction period.

Welfare

The welfare of our workforce is important to us and we provide workwear, Personal Protective Equipment to our staff.  Welfare facilities are supplied at our workplace and the use of site welfare facilities is arranged as required.  Our workforce receives regular team updates and are given an opportunity for reporting any concerns or expressing needs and opinions.  We operate a no-blame culture and encourage every employee to feel empowered to report and never to accept unsafe practices.

 

Ethical Business

Ethical trade has involved us in taking a series of recognized steps to identify problems and improve working conditions outside of our corporate family, with a focus on continuous improvement over time. 

Our ethical values help us deliver better solutions, projects and customer outcomes. We as a company are committed to adopting credible and effective strategies to improve conditions in our supply chains; We feel we have achieved customer and staff loyalty based on distinctive ethical values.

We ensure that we do business with integrity and transparency. We implement in our day to day trading in a community of socially conscious principles. Our values are evident in every interaction that we have with our employees, customers, suppliers, stakeholders and members of the public. 

Our vocational statement, it has a clear purpose; 'Doing the right thing' is embedded in our processes, procedures and working environment. Ever Vigilant at all stages of our trading process, we ensure processes are in place to incorporate anti-corruption issues, labour law, environmental and basic legal issues, such as the rejection of slavery, child labour, and compliance with the environmental standards.

Our actions amplify workers’ voices and shine a spotlight on working conditions as part of our efforts to drive long-lasting change. It translates into partner relationships, our culture and working environment and our procurement processes. 

Our values and mission statements define how all Opus employees work; We do not tolerate any form of forced subjugation, corruption, bribery, unfair or anti-competitive activities, discrimination or harassment. 

Enabling The moral right: Our high code of labour practice covers the “nine-point code” of core workers’ rights including health and safety, working hours, freedom of association and a living wage.

This requires companies within our supply chain to demonstrate a clear commitment to ethical trade integrated into their core business practices;

All employees receive code of conduct training when they join Opus Facilities, and again every two years, helping them to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes in all their transactions with other people. 

Embedded in all our operations is openness, eager to adopt a diverse and inclusive culture.

As a green contractor we are helping to drive the industry towards ever more sustainable solutions, through our partnership with Ecodesk we manage and constantly monitor our carbon footprint, our water and waste data our sustainability profile. 

We encourage society to be greener through our work with government, industry bodies, customers and suppliers.

We are a good neighbour and strive to leave a positive legacy in the communities in which we work.

 

Green Commitment

We are committed to making an active contribution to a green society. Our strategies encourage Opus Facilities to make a positive impact on the environment we concern ourselves with more than just an economic event.;

  • Implement a systematic approach to setting environmental objectives and targets; to achieving these and to demonstrating that they have been achieved.

Being green is about doing more while using fewer resources to ensure our activity impacts as little as possible to damage the environment, monitor and reduce the real consequences of everything we do.

Our Practical ventures include analysing products and technologies, thereby incorporate ever-more sustainable options into our processes and delivery and the identification of socially relevant behaviour towards pollution.

This approach is embedded in how we work and comes as a result of our long-term commitment to Green Advocacy. It helps us to be a better neighbour in the communities in which we work and guides us in the efficient use of natural resources.

We believe we have a responsibility to help to inspire the next generation, raising their awareness and providing them with opportunities to enter the construction industry. Our corporate citizenship extends to apprenticeship programs, and youth mentoring through sports and social activities.
